My friends and I went there the other night. We finally decided to try it out because my friend’s sister told us it was the best she ever tasted. Even before I heard of Chatime, I was already really really contented with Happy Lemon’s blend. Thus, this piqued my curiosity even more.
When we got there, we were greeted warmly by the staff and the owners of the place. It took us a long time to decide on the drink as there were 30 or more selections to choose from. Finally, after much debate, we were able to order red bean milk tea (my choice), pearl milk tea, Chatime roasted milk tea, honey lemon aloe and chocolate mousse.
I was really shocked when I took my first sip. I thought my taste buds weren’t functioning well that night. Sip after the other, I couldn’t find the taste of tea. It tasted more like 50 percent water, 25 percent 50/50 sugar and 25 percent red beans. The ingredients didn’t overpower the flavour of the tea. I think there was just little or no tea to begin with!
Trying my best to be unbiased, I tried my friends’ drinks as well. I thought….maybe it was just what I chose or how my drink was blended. Unfortunately, theirs was much worse. It was like comparing UCC here and UCC abroad – is this water or coffee? The honey lemon aloe mix didn’t mix well either. For me, a good combination would be just like how you’d see it in cartoons- the taster being able to distinguish each and every ingredient on the dish even though none was mentioned to him. The chocolate mousse wasn’t that bad however. This was the only drink among the five which was close to comparison to Happy Lemon’s blend.
Overall, my vote still goes to Happy Lemon for the best bubble tea in the Philippines. I’m hoping that this was just a bad day for Chatime and the baristas (or whatever you call them) were just really tired that night. I may visit again next time, just to see if things get any better. For now, my high is still with Happy Lemon.

Forget the pass. Live with what you have now. Move on. Live for yourself and grow for those people who really need and deserve you. Be who you are. You are more than this. And don’t ever chain yourself from what the world has to offer.
Sometimes, mistakes are irreversible, no matter what the apologies or reasons. You hurt the people you love the most. We try to mask our failures with ignorance. And hide ourselves under the shadows of our friends or family. Always depending. Always needing.
No more. I’m done with it. It’s time i open my eyes. Its gonna hurt at first. After a while, i’ll get to see better and i know it’s going to be beautiful.
